shared path built on road

Temporary Insanity

While some earthworks were being conducted along the boundary of a large construction site (which had already diverted the pedestrians and cyclists to this side of the site) it was deemed prudent to take up both the nearside lane and on road parking for this over engineered shared path.

The concrete barrier topped with fencing to separate the road traffic and path is placed over the dividing line of the dual lane road reducing the remaining lane to the point where cyclists and cars cannot lane split and cleverly there is absolutely no way for a cyclist to enter the shared path from the road.

This monstrosity ends 300m down the road, on top of an on road bicycle lane. Again with no way for cyclists to move from the shared path onto the bike lane.
